Steady guidance when family life changes.
A boutique West Perth firm guiding Western Australian families through separation, property settlement and parenting matters. With care, discretion and more than forty years of experience.
For most people, a family law matter is their first time needing a lawyer.
Separation is one of the most stressful things a person can go through. Our role is to take the legal weight off your shoulders, explain every step in plain language, and protect what matters most to you and your family.
At Paynes Lawyers we have specialised in family law, and only family law, for more than three decades. That focus means experience, clear advice, and the empathy to set your mind at ease through a difficult time.
Three of the areas we are asked about most.
Family law covers many situations. These are the matters clients come to us with most often, and a good place to start.
Divorce
The legal end of a marriage, handled correctly and without unnecessary stress, so you can move forward with certainty.
Learn more →Property settlement
Dividing your assets, liabilities and superannuation fairly and finally, by agreement wherever it is possible.
Learn more →Financial agreements
Pre-nuptial, post-nuptial and cohabitation agreements that give you and your partner clarity and protection.
Learn more →A small firm, with a long memory.
Four decades on
We have practised family law in Perth since 1982. Very little is new to us.
Accredited specialists
Recognised Family Law Specialists, not generalists who dabble in the area.
Genuinely boutique
You work directly with a senior lawyer, from your first call to resolution.
Resolution first
We aim to settle matters early and out of court wherever it is possible.
The people who will look after you.
Anne Payne
Admitted in 1980 and practising family law since 1982, Anne became an Accredited Family Law Specialist in 1994 and is also trained in mediation and alternative dispute resolution.
Julia Mansfield
Practising exclusively in family law since 2010, Julia previously served as a Legal Associate at the Family Court of Western Australia, giving her a detailed understanding of court process.
James Mansfield
A first-class honours graduate, James spent eighteen months as Legal Associate to the Chief Judge of the Family Court of Western Australia before practising at Paynes.
